How big a solar system do I need?
A rough size from your electricity bill. It is an estimate, not a design or a quote: an installer confirms it with a site survey.
Your numbers
A hybrid system also needs a battery and inverter sized to the appliances you want to run during outages. This estimate covers the panels only, so tell each installer which appliances those are.
Net-metering and net-billing terms change. Ask the installer and your electricity distribution company what applies to you today.
Before you sign with an installer
- Check the certificate and validity date on the installer’s ProChuno profile, then confirm it with the company or PPIB.
- Get at least three written quotes for the same size and the same backup, so you can compare them.
- Ask for the panel and inverter brand and model, and the warranty on each, in writing.
- Ask who applies for net metering with your distribution company, and what terms apply today.
- Ask for a site survey before you pay, and don’t pay the full amount in advance.
